About EMKDE

Born from a whim of mine to see thirty to forty hopper wagons behind a double headed class 20 (my favourite diesel locomotive) a friend of mine, Kevin Trim then of R.J.H. must have overheard me because at our next local meeting he produced a hopper body fashioned out of a corn flake packet!  Is that the sort of thing that you are after, he said?  And with that the 21 ton Coal Hopper prototype was born.  Another modelling friend of mine, David Gallop helped with the cutting up of etches, making links and general sorting out casting sets.  And this combination makes up:-

I am truly in debt to these two friends with out whom none of this would have been possible.

 The main distinction with EMKDE is that they only produce Hopper Wagons. The highly acclaimed Presflo Cement Hopper is selling well, this is definitely not a beginner’s kit and it is advisable to jig the side fins to keep them straight and evenly spaced, however when it is completed it is a very pleasing model.  See our Hints & Tips

The kits consist of brass etch parts cut to box size, the relevant white metal castings, any springs, wire and split pins, each kit also contains a detailed set of instructions.  The model when constructed will require wheels, transfers and paint to complete.
