About EMKDE Born from a whim of mine to see thirty to forty hopper wagons behind a double headed class 20 (my favourite diesel locomotive) a friend of mine, Kevin Trim then of R.J.H. must have overheard me because at our next local meeting he produced a hopper body fashioned out of a corn flake packet! Is that the sort of thing that you are after, he said? And with that the 21 ton Coal Hopper prototype was born. Another modelling friend of mine, David Gallop helped with the cutting up of etches, making links and general sorting out casting sets. And this combination makes EM – Malcolm, KE – Kevin DE – David (Sadly David has recently passed away, he was a good friend and he will be missed.) I am truly in debt to these two friends with out whom none of this would have been possible. The main distinction with EMKDE is that they only produce Hopper Wagons. The successful Presflo Cement Hopper is presently being updated with the aim of making it beginner friendly, the new model is also more authentic.
Please see below the first photograph of the NEW EMKDE Presflo. It is now off the drawing board and is heading towards production. The new slot and tab method of construction can be clearly seen in this photograph (click photo for more details) and so far the model seems to be going together very well.
The kits consist of flat packed brass etch parts and the relevant white metal castings, any springs, wire and split pins, each kit also contains a detailed set of instructions. The model when constructed will require wheels, transfers and paint to complete. The wheels and transfers can be purchased on this site (Buy Now). For

Wagon History page Please note that we are adding more wagons to the range, so keep an N or two Non this space. |
